29.03.2011 Another four Putzmeister truck-mounted concrete pumps for Fukushima
A few days ago, the Japanese operator decided to use another four Putzmeister machines at the damaged reactor blocks in Fukushima: Two 62-metre-high machines with 6 arms (M 62-6) and two 70-metre-high machines (M 70-5). All the machines are from Germany. The two 70-metre pumps are to be taken from construction sites in the USA. The first machine will probably be flown from Stuttgart to Japan on 31.03 in an Antonov wide-bodied aircraft, and the other machines will be flown in during the following days. Initially, they will probably pump water; later they will be used for any necessary concreting work.
23.03.2011 Putzmeister truck-mounted concrete pump is used to cool Fukushima
At the reactor in Fukushima, workers are currently using an M 58-5 truck-mounted concrete pump (produced in Aichtal near Stuttgart) that has a vertical reach of 58 m and a 5-arm boom in order to support the cooling of the damaged cooling pools. The advantage of this is that cooling water can be fed a great distance over the destroyed buildings and can be fed to exactly where it is required.
08.11.2010 24-hour pumping at Neufahrn: The large-boom team concretes at the motorway junction
On the morning of 4th August, two large- boom concrete pumps arrived at the Neufahrn motorway junction north of Munich – one M 58-5 from Berger Beton and one M 62-6 from BFM Betonförder-dienst in Munich.
04.10.2010 MXKD 50 and BSA 2110 HP D concreting the underground rail station in Yenikapı / Istanbul
In February 2010, the time had finally come: an MXKD 50 on a 15 m lattice tower and a BSA 2110 HP D stationary concrete pump began concreting the Yenikapı railway station.
15.09.2010 Two new dancers on Hamburg‘s Reeperbahn
Following the plans of architects Bothe Richter Teherani, the “Dancing Towers” project was begun in September 2009 quite close to the Port of Hamburg. On the approx. 5,400 m² plot at no. 1 Reeperbahn, two pitched high-rise buildings and a hotel complex are being built for around € 150 million. The contractor is Strabag Real Estate GmbH.
31.05.2009 Big boom pumps win big jobs
Three large PM truck-mounted concrete pumps – with the new M 70-5 leading the way - were on site at the same time recently, as the “Oakland Touchdown”, the eastern approach of the new Bay Bridge in San Francisco Bay, was concreted.
29.03.2010 New double-walled pipes (130 bar) with service life up to 5 times longer
For the first time, "The Pumas" concrete pump team used ZX couplings on dual-layer pipelines resistant to pressures of 130 bar to deliver concrete to the basement, the main building and the two towers at Tower 185 in Frankfurt. Double-walled delivery lines have already been being used on PM truck-mounted concrete pumps for a long time to extend the service life and thereby reduce conversion costs and downtimes, but only in a version limited to 85 bar pressure.
29.03.2010 M 49-5 – with 4 axles in the fast lane
The request for maximum reach on 4 axles first came from the Chinese market. Putzmeister exhibited its new M 49-5 truck-mounted concrete pump for the first time at the last Bauma Shanghai. The innovation was an immediate success there.
08.10.2009 Growing within its niche - the Roline pump concept
Anyone driving onto the Thomas Catherin Transport sarl yard in Montluel near Lyon will look across to the fleet of around 15 closely parked lorries belonging to the small haulage and pumping service provider. The office and materials store of the family firm are housed in containers. Jean Marc Catherin, who built up the company on his own initiative, tells us in his quiet, friendly manner why he changed from the PUMI two years ago to become the first in France to invest in a Roline concrete pump.
05.12.2008 Pumping ultra high strength concrete (200 N/mm²)
Insightful tests were successfully completed in the Korean capital Seoul, which caused clients, architects, building companies and concrete pump operators to listen attentively with regard to future construction projects. With the support of a local pump operator and the Putzmeister subsidiary PM Korea, ultra high strength concrete (UHSC) was conveyed using a BSA 14000 HP-D stationary high pressure concrete pump, and all relevant measuring data was recorded and analysed.
10.11.2008 Frankfurt's OpernTurm is growing with concrete pumps and a self-acting climbing boom
Ed.Züblin AG is currently erecting an imposing high-rise project, the OpernTurm, in the centre of Frankfurt am Main at a breathtaking speed. Including its base plate, around 55,000 m3 of concrete will be incorporated in the 170 m tower. The main players in the speedy construction progress are, among others, Europe's largest truck-mounted concrete pump M 63-5, a stationary high pressure concrete pump BSA 2109 as well as a stationary boom MX-32-4, on redeveloped tubular columns, with a climbing system.
18.06.2008 50 hours under water
For seamless production of a 40 x 90 m underwater concrete base plate, the largest truck-mounted concrete pump in Austria, a Putzmeister BSF 63-5.20 H owned by Asamer & Hufnagl (Ohlsdorf, Upper Austria), delivered 3,300 m3 of concrete without interruption. Divers assisted at the job which took two days.
21.06.2007 First M 63-5 long-reach boom pump in Ireland
In its March edition, the Irish construction trade magazine, "Plant Man", reported on the delivery of the first M 63 long-reach truck-mounted concrete pump to Kilbride Concrete Pumping in Ireland.
08.02.2008 Continuous concrete placing during balanced cantilever construction of a bridge
Sophisticated bridge structures can also be built with relatively little effort using concrete pumps and concrete distribution machines. The best example of this is the Hačka viaduct in the Czech Republic, which was handed over to the clients meanwhile after only two years of construction work.
08.12.2006 New long-reach boom pump serves historical exhibition halls
In Köln-Deutz, Hochtief Construction AG is converting the old exhibition halls on the banks of the Rhine into a modern office and media centre. While the historical brick façades have been retained, Cologne's largest office project makes progress behind the outer walls.
